How I Got Started
I have been working in web development in some way for over 13 years, since my family got their first computer when I was 14, to run the website for the family business. I was put in charge of the website, so I had to learn fast. After teaching myself the basics of HTML and CSS, I studied A Level IT at Pembrokeshire College, where I earned the Computing and ICT Award.
What I Studied
After college I spent 3 years at the University of Glamorgan, where I gained an upper second class (2:1) honours degree in (BSc) Internet Computing. It was there that I first began to use content management systems, building a site on Joomla for my dissertation project.
Where I've Worked
After university I worked at Fairhill Online for 2 1/2 years, which is where I was first introduced to Umbraco. I quickly became responsible for almost all of the front-end development, and much of the back-end development within Umbraco. I introduced the use of responsive design for all sites we developed, using a custom designed responsive framework.
Other Stuff About Me
Outside of web development, I enjoy amateur photography as a member of Pontypridd Camera Club. You can see some of my work here. I also enjoy tabletop gaming, video gaming, and collecting geeky t-shirts.
